Meet Nick – Third Grade Hero!

Meet Nick & Ulla

I would like to introduce you to an incredible 3rd grader named Nick. He contacted Fldr in December 2008 wanting to do a school assignment called My Project of Worth. Nick was doing this for the gifted class he’s in. His letter below will tell you what an incredible job he did with more of his project coming soon once he’s presented it to his school in May. His project raised $370.00 to help our rescue. This child has touched the hearts of all the members of Fldr. What a wonderful heart he has to want to help abandoned and abused Doxie’s to get well and find new homes. Nick attends Orzona Elementary School in Palm Harbor Florida. We all need to let his Principle and Gifted teachers know how special this child is to know at such a young age that there are so many animals out there that need help and homes where they can be loved for ever. His dog Ulla has shown him what love is really all about. If you want you can send a letter to his school at 601 Tampa Road, Palm Harbor Fl 34683 Attention Mrs. March & Mrs. Dunson

My Project of Worth

Ulla and I in 2009

Dear Family and Friends,

Hi! I am writing to ask for your help with my first Project of Worth. This very important project is required in my 3rd grade gifted class at Ozona Elementary school this year. The goal of the Project of Worth is to make the world a better place. My project has to be something that is personally meaningful to me and will bring good to our community.

My family and I love Dachshunds. We have the best one in the world. Her name is Ulla La La Miss Mole. That’s her American Kennel Club registered name, but we just call her “Mole Rat” or just “Ratty”. I love Dachshunds because they are sweet, funny, curious, and playful. For my Project of Worth I have chosen to help raise money for Florida Dachshund Rescue. a tax exempt, 501c3 charity. My goal is to raise $350.00 to help with medical bills for Dachshunds that have been abandoned, neglected, or abused. Your donation, in any amount you can spare, will help great little wieners like Bubba, Chili and Chopper. Slinky, Peanut and many others.

I will present the check to the Florida Dachshund Rescue. They will provide me a donation certificate and write a letter to my school. I will include these items along with the names of every donor (unless you want yours kept secret) in my class presentation. I will also create a visual presentation that explains my project for a parent event called the Student Showcase. I will send you a picture of me with my presentation. Thank you very much for your consideration and for your kindness.

Sincerely,

Nick S.
