POOKIE BEAR HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
*This is a courtesy posting. FLDR bears no responsibility, present or future, in the adoption of “Pookie Bear”.
Name: Pookie Bear
Age: 6-8 years old
Sex: Female
Weight: 13 lbs.
Spayed/Neutered: Spayed
Coat: Smooth
Color: Black & Tan
Location: Myakka City, FL
Email: pkhenley@aol.com
My human mom thought my name was silly when I first came to live with her, but it fits me. I am “The Pook” and my favorite past time is playing! I play catch for hours on end with my human dad. He says I have a “big dog” personality. I am not sure what that means, I just know when he throws the ball I go and get it and we do that over and over until he is exhausted and then we lay down and take a nap.
My family is moving to another state and cannot take me with them, so I need a new forever home. I am house trained, healthy, up to date on my vaccinations, on heart worm and flea prevention. I like other dogs and cats, but would do best at a home with no children.
If you think I am the right dog for you, please contact Kimberly at pkhenley@aol.com, so she can talk to you about becoming Pookie’s new forever home.

Here’s my story: I was the cute adorable puppy who was bought to be the best friend of a young girl. She grew up and went away to college. That left me at home all alone. And when I say alone, I mean alone. The mom of the house works a lot and has an active social life which left me all by myself for over 12 hours a day. Sometimes, I would be home from early in the morning with a quick visit for a potty break at dinner time and then left alone again until after midnight. My “girl” was gone and the mom always said she wasn’t a dog person.
Thankfully, the mom of the house cared enough that she contacted the rescue organization. I ended up in a foster home . . . it’s a great thing because my life is changing for the better. When I arrived here, I would pace for hours when given a rawhide stick. I’d hold it in my mouth and make it last as long as I could. You see, in the life I knew before I had to make the rawhides last because that is how I entertained myself for hours when left alone.
My foster family loves me. I love everyone. I get along with all other dogs, the cat and enjoy every visitor that stops by. I am a loyal dog who loves to snuggle on the sofa and go for walks. Unlike puppies, I do not chew on things, I potty outside, I only bark occasionally and my leash manners are great. I prefer to sleep on my dog bed burrowed under soft blankets but will sleep snuggled up in a big bed too. Foster mom calls me an easy keeper. All I know is that I really enjoy getting attention and the belly rubs are so wonderful.
I am healthy, up to date on all shots, neutered, the ideal weight, house trained, heartworm negative and on monthly heartworm and flea protection.
I love it here; however, I want to have my own family. Please fill out an application with my name on it and email my foster family at savedoxies@gmail.com about your interest or with questions, so they can contact you about becoming my new forever home.

ELLA HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
Name: Ella (11-6)
Age: 3 years old
Sex: Female
Weight: 17 lbs.
Spayed/Neutered: Spayed
Coat: Long haired
Color: Red & White
Fee: $250
Location: Naples, FL
Email: tougasr@hotmail.com
Hi! My name is Ella. I was born on October 2008, in Filer, Idaho. I am very loving, but I get scared of noises and fast motion. My first owner used to yell at me a lot, so I don’t like that. I am well potty trained, but have had accidents when I get scared. I go in and out doggy doors with no problem and I am very good on a leash.
I was kept in a crate for long periods of time by my first owner so I don’t like crates. My second owner was wonderful and loving, she let me sleep in the bed with her and she really loved me. Sadly when she moved to Florida with me, she found I did not like her sister’s husband and the kids moved too fast, plus when she found a place to live, they did not allow dogs. So now I am looking for a forever home. I really like my foster mom and I am getting much better with her husband. I am up to date on all my meds and have good health. I did have a small eye problem but that has healed.
If you think I am the right dog for you, please fill out an application with my name on it and email my foster family at tougasr@hotmail.com about your interest or with questions, so they can contact you about becoming my new forever home.

FRITZ HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
Fritz is eligible for the Seniors for Seniors Program
Hi, my name is Fritz! I will also respond to Doodle, since my original owners affectionately called me Fritzer-Doodle. My daddy was disabled and confined to a wheelchair making it difficult to meet my needs, so he contacted FLDR to find me a new forever home. While I was waiting to come into foster care, I moved in with my daddy’s daughter, whom I loved, but there was a one year old human in the house, who scared me with her high-pitched voice and quick movements. I usually would just go hide under the sofa or go to my crate, which is my “safe zone”. I like all people and older children, if they are calm. I’m also friendly to other dogs big and small and I don’t even mind cats. Foster mom says I’ve got a bit of a nervous nature, a bit hesitant in new situations and keep my tail tucked under me when I am unsure…but that’s just the way I am!
Foster mom also says I’m a treat, because she rarely gets a foster that is 100% housetrained! Doesn’t everybody know you’re supposed to go potty outside? I like my crate and will go in during the day to rest and at night to sleep, but I also really love to sleep in the big bed–it’s so cozy and warm burrowed under the covers! Just give me a blanket and I’m a happy camper! Here in my foster home we go for a long walk everyday and I just LOVE it! I’m a really good walker on the leash and am always in the front of the pack. There are other doxies here my same age and I act MUCH younger than them! In my new forever home, I hope to continue my new exercise routine…it makes me feel so good and will also help me get rid of the 1-2 lbs. that I need to lose.
I spent most of my days sitting in my daddy’s lap, which I really miss! I hope in my new home they will hold me in their lap and won’t be away from me very much during the day. My foster home is really nice, but I’m really looking for a home that doesn’t have 5 other dogs. I really would like the attention mostly for me!
Thanks for reading my story and I promise to be a good boy! If you think you are the right home for me, please fill out an application with my name and number on it or contact my foster mom if you have any questions about me at kbthill@gmail.com.

AVERY HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
Name: Avery (12-2)
Age: 4 years old
Sex: Male
Weight: 15.5 lbs.
Spayed/Neutered: Neutered
Coat: Smooth
Color: Black/Tan
Fee: $250
Location: Tallahassee, FL
Email: ead10d@my.fsu.edu
Hi, my name is Avery. I was living on the streets and picked up by animal control and after no one came to claim me, I wound up with FLDR. Life here with my foster mom is great but, I would love to have a family of my own. My foster mom says I am a dream foster dog because I am potty trained and am low key. I am happy to lay on the couch with her and snuggle all day. In fact, I LOVE getting attention! If you don’t pay attention to me, I will politely get your attention by rolling over. If that does not work, I must proceed to step two, which is moan/whine softy to remind you I am here. Normally this works like a charm, however, if it is a stubborn human I will let out one short bark just to ensure you heard me. I just love to get my belly rubbed. I do well in a crate, but my foster mom lets me stay out when she is gone, since she knows I’ll behave and I prefer that. She also lets me sleep in the big bed with her and it is wonderful. The first night I wasn’t to sure what to do, so I slept at the end of the bed on top of the covers. But now I burrow under the covers and sleep right up next to my foster mom.
I don’t care too much for toys and generally ignore them, but I love bones. My foster sister steals my bones when I forget to hide them and walk away. But I don’t mind to bad, I just sit and wait till she gets bored and leaves it, so I can take it back. What can I say; I’m a lover not a fighter! My foster mom takes me and my foster sister for walks at the dog park and I love that. She says I walk nicely on a leash and I have nice manners with all the other dogs.
I am healthy, up to date on shots, neutered, ideal body weight, house trained, and heartworm negative.
If you think I am the right dog for you and you need a little love in your life, please fill out an application with my name on it and email my foster family at ead10d@my.fsu.edu about your interest or with questions, so they can contact you about becoming my new forever home.

MAPLE HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
Name: Maple
Age: 6 years old
Sex: Female
Weight: 15 lbs – need to lose some pounds
Spayed/Neutered: Spayed
Coat: Smooth
Color: Red/Wild Boar
Fee: $225
Location: Palm Bay, FL
Email: saveadoxie@yahoo.com
Hi! I am Maple – short for “Maple Brown Sugar” as my foster mom calls me. I am soooo SWEET!!!
I came from a home where my family didn’t want me left alone all the time. They contacted FLDR to see if they can find a terrific home for me; one where I will receive more attention.
I have lots of energy – even though I am a little overweight. I need to lose about 2 pounds off my husky body. I get so excited when you show me attention that my tail wags continuously, my entire rear-end moves & I make whimper/whine sounds – it’s all good!
I love my squeaky toys and will carry them around the house. I love to play fetch and will return the toy to you for hours of fun. I love to go for walks! I am 100% housebroken and will even go out in the rain quickly. I enjoy running around the large backyard of my foster home. When it is time to sleep, all you have to do is tell me to go in my crate and I sleep through the entire night with the crate door open in my foster’s home bedroom. But honestly, I would rather be in the big bed!
I am up-to-date on all my shots and will be having a dental soon.
Is your heart big enough for me? If you think I am the right dog for you, please fill out an application with my name on it and email my foster family at saveadoxie@yahoo.com about your interest or with questions, so they can contact you about becoming my new forever home.

Weight: 14 lbs.
Spayed/Neutered: Spayed by Christmas
Coat: Smooth
Color: Black/Tan
Fee: $225.00
Location: Palm Bay, FL

Hi! I am Heidi. I was not wanted by my previous owner and FLDR found me wandering. I am a Happy-Go-Lucky black & tan dachshund mix that is full of energy. I love to be loved and want to show you by sitting on your lap the entire day!
I get along fine with other dogs but do not know about cats. I am not a barker or licker – more of a sniffer! I would love to cuddle with you in bed at night.
As a younger dog, I am learning my manners and am housebroken, crate-trained and will listen when spoken to. I am great with all people (young & old) and would prefer a forever home where I can get lots of attention and time to play. I will be a great family addition. I enjoy walks, running in the backyard and just hanging out.
I am up-to-date on shots and will be completing my heartworm treatments by Christmas at which time I will be spayed.

GRETCHEN HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
Name: Gretchen
Age: 7-8 years old
Sex: Female
Weight: 13 lbs.
Spayed/Neutered: Spayed
Coat: Smooth
Color: Red
Fee: $175
Location: Cocoa, FL
Email: heehawacres@cfl.rr.com
I was wandering the streets when a man in a uniform picked me up as a stray. I had to stay at that horrible place for a couple of weeks and I was scared because I was alone with no human friends to play with. Then my foster mom picked me up and took me home. She gave me a name that I’m happy with; “Gretchen”. I am now looking for a new forever home.
We don’t know Gretchen’s history. The vet puts her age at 7-8 years old. Gretchen was a chunky little girl, but she has been on a diet along with extra exercise and she is begging for a new Christmas home! She also has the most adorable “worry lines” above her eyebrows.
Gretchen is a spunky little gal that wiggles her whole body when she is happy. Gretchen LOVES men. She obviously was well treated in her prior life by a man. She is up to date on everything and housebroken. Gretchen gets along with cats and other dogs.
If you think I am the right dog for you, please fill out an application with my name on it and email my foster family at heehawacres@cfl.rr.com about your interest or with questions, so they can contact you about becoming my new forever home.

*****CAUTION*****
This is the most lovable Dachshund you will ever meet! Once you look into his eyes you are his forever!!! My name is Hans and I am 2 years old. My Birthday is 11/21/2009 and I am a Standard Red Altered Male Dachshund.
My Foster mom says that I am the sweetest guy she has ever met and if she didn’t already have four dogs I would be staying with her. I am active and playful but could stand to put on a little more weight. The vet says about another 4 pounds or so and I will be good. I have a foster sister and 3 foster brothers that I like to play and sleep with so I am good with other dogs. I am totally housebroken and do not mind going into my crate when they leave the house. I am up to date on my shots and heartworm negative but am dealing with a little eye infection, they are giving me medicine so that should be gone in a little while. Oh, my foster mom also says that I have a VERY BIG BARK, but what can I say I am a VERY BIG DOG…..LOL!
I was found roaming a neighborhood with my friend Heidi and when they found my home my old master said he didn’t want me anymore so the lady that found us took us to Florida Dachshund Rescue so we could find new homes.
I love to play with toys, run outside or just act goofy. I keep my foster family laughing with my crazy antics. I love being with my humans and would like to sleep with them in the Big Bed but can sleep by myself if that is what you want. So if you are looking for a BIG GOOFY CUDDLY CRAZY GUY, I am the dog for you.
If you think I am the right dog for you, please fill out an application with my name on it and email my foster family at irescuedoxies@gmail.com about your interest or with questions, so they can contact you about becoming my new forever home.

TIESTO HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
Name: Tiesto
Age: 4 years old
Sex: Male
Weight: 19 lbs.
Spayed/Neutered: Neutered
Coat: Smooth
Color: Isabella
Fee: $500
Location: Port Charlotte, FL
Email: melissa.kilmer@yahoo.com
Ladies and Gentlemen! Please do not try to adjust the color on your screens and YES, this IS the most beautiful dachshund you have ever seen! His name is Tiesto and he has the most loving disposition, gentle nature, and sophisticated air of distinction about him. He is also the smartest doxie you will ever meet! He aims to please you (as long as that means being WITH you) and he also loves to drape himself over your lap when you sit down. When he feels like it is time for some love, he will come find you and give you “those eyes” that make you feel like whatever you are doing, it is not as important as loving him right now! (Good luck resisting those eyes!)
Tiesto is up to date on his shots, heartworm negative, housebroken and he knows how to use a pet door. He would prefer not to have to compete for your attention with any other canines; however, one other dog might be okay (since there are two sides to every lap). Not sure how he measures up in the feline department as there are no cats in his home right now. He loves to sleep in the big bed with you, but if that’s not okay, he doesn’t mind sleeping in a bed on the floor as long as he gets lots of love in the morning. He likes to go for walks (brisk ones) and play with toys. He doesn’t bark unless he feels he needs to alert you of something going on outside and even then, it’s not for very long.
If you think you might be the home he’s been waiting for, please fill out an application with his name on it or feel free to email his foster mom at melissa.kilmer@yahoo.com with questions about him. He is truly a fabulous dog and I am honored to be helping him find his forever home.
