I am absolutely FABULOUS!!! I am very mild mannered and would be great with kids. I love to play fetch and will amuse myself with my toys. My potty habits are good, but there are no promises around wall to wall carpeting. My hair is so soft and silky that you won’t want to stop cuddling me!
I came into rescue with a broken leg, but it’s all fixed now and I’m good to go. My foster mom and dad take me on long walks and have me on a diet to lose the weight I gained while I was immobilized. I have to admit that when I want to play fetch, I can get noisy and very persistent. I just can’t help myself.

Hi! I am Maple – short for “Maple Brown Sugar” as my foster mom calls me. I am soooo SWEET!!!
I came from a home where my family didn’t want me left alone all the time. They contacted FLDR to see if they can find a terrific home for me; one where I will receive more attention.
I have lots of energy – even though I am a little overweight. I need to lose about 2 pounds off my husky body. I get so excited when you show me attention that my tail wags continuously, my entire rear-end moves & I make whimper/whine sounds – it’s all good!
I love my squeaky toys and will carry them around the house. I love to play fetch and will return the toy to you for hours of fun. I love to go for walks! I am 100% housebroken and will even go out in the rain quickly. I enjoy running around the large backyard of my foster home. When it is time to sleep, all you have to do is tell me to go in my crate and I sleep through the entire night with the crate door open in my foster’s home bedroom. But honestly, I would rather be in the big bed!
I am up-to-date on all my shots and will be having a dental soon.

Hi! I am Heidi. I was not wanted by my previous owner and FLDR found me wandering. I am a Happy-Go-Lucky black & tan dachshund mix that is full of energy. I love to be loved and want to show you by sitting on your lap the entire day!
I get along fine with other dogs but do not know about cats. I am not a barker or licker – more of a sniffer! I would love to cuddle with you in bed at night.

I was wandering the streets when a man in a uniform picked me up as a stray. I had to stay at that horrible place for a couple of weeks and I was scared because I was alone with no human friends to play with. Then my foster mom picked me up and took me home. She gave me a name that I’m happy with; “Gretchen”. I am now looking for a new forever home.
We don’t know Gretchen’s history. The vet puts her age at 7-8 years old. Gretchen was a chunky little girl, but she has been on a diet along with extra exercise and she is begging for a new Christmas home! She also has the most adorable “worry lines” above her eyebrows.
Gretchen is a spunky little gal that wiggles her whole body when she is happy. Gretchen LOVES men. She obviously was well treated in her prior life by a man. She is up to date on everything and housebroken. Gretchen gets along with cats and other dogs.

This is the most lovable Dachshund you will ever meet! Once you look into his eyes you are his forever!!! My name is Hans and I am 2 years old. My Birthday is 11/21/2009 and I am a Standard Red Altered Male Dachshund.
My Foster mom says that I am the sweetest guy she has ever met and if she didn’t already have four dogs I would be staying with her. I am active and playful but could stand to put on a little more weight. The vet says about another 4 pounds or so and I will be good. I have a foster sister and 3 foster brothers that I like to play and sleep with so I am good with other dogs. I am totally housebroken and do not mind going into my crate when they leave the house. I am up to date on my shots and heartworm negative but am dealing with a little eye infection, they are giving me medicine so that should be gone in a little while. Oh, my foster mom also says that I have a VERY BIG BARK, but what can I say I am a VERY BIG DOG…..LOL!
I was found roaming a neighborhood with my friend Heidi and when they found my home my old master said he didn’t want me anymore so the lady that found us took us to Florida Dachshund Rescue so we could find new homes.
I love to play with toys, run outside or just act goofy. I keep my foster family laughing with my crazy antics. I love being with my humans and would like to sleep with them in the Big Bed but can sleep by myself if that is what you want. Ladies and Gentlemen! Please do not try to adjust the color on your screens and YES, this IS the most beautiful dachshund you have ever seen! His name is Tiesto and he has the most loving disposition, gentle nature, and sophisticated air of distinction about him. He is also the smartest doxie you will ever meet! He aims to please you (as long as that means being WITH you) and he also loves to drape himself over your lap when you sit down. When he feels like it is time for some love, he will come find you and give you “those eyes” that make you feel like whatever you are doing, it is not as important as loving him right now! (Good luck resisting those eyes!)
Tiesto is up to date on his shots, heartworm negative, housebroken and he knows how to use a pet door. He would prefer not to have to compete for your attention with any other canines; however, one other dog might be okay (since there are two sides to every lap). Not sure how he measures up in the feline department as there are no cats in his home right now. He loves to sleep in the big bed with you, but if that’s not okay, he doesn’t mind sleeping in a bed on the floor as long as he gets lots of love in the morning. He likes to go for walks (brisk ones) and play with toys. He doesn’t bark unless he feels he needs to alert you of something going on outside and even then, it’s not for very long.

Hi! My name is Jasmine and I am about 5 years old. I am a Chiweenie (Dachshund/Chihuahua mix). I was taken to our local animal control shelter when my previous owners lost their jobs. I was discovered by the FLDR’s secretary, only 2 days before I was supposed to be euthanized. She picked me up and took me right to the vet to be treated for an upper respiratory infection. I’m very healthy now. I’ve had all my vaccines, had my teeth cleaned and am spayed.
I love being a part of the family. I love to play with my foster brother and sisters and I’m the biggest snuggle bug you’ve ever seen. I love to give hugs and like to rest my head on my foster family’s shoulders. I can be a little shy at first, but all you have to do is love me and I will be loyal to you forever. I am completely and reliably housebroken with a doggy door.
Jasmine is such a wonderful little girl. She is super loving. Jazzy likes to wrap her arms around your neck like she is hugging you. She loves to sleep with you at night and will cuddle up to you. Jazzy will come when you call her and she is learning to sit and stay. She has learned the doggy door so quickly, but if you don’t have one I think she could convert to being taken out periodically for potty breaks very easily. She doesn’t like being crated and is so good; we don’t crate her when we leave the house. Jazzy loves to be with her “humans” as much as possible. Jasmine is ready for her forever home.

These two beautiful dachshunds were surrendered by their owners, who were moving from a house to an apartment where no dogs were allowed. They are sweet! Trixie loves to be cuddled up, into your arms, so she can nestle there and put her chin on your shoulder, where she would stay forever. Lobo loves to be petted and hops on his two “phat” front paws whenever he looks up at you, wagging madly. He likes to lie at your feet on a pillow while you watch TV or read. They sleep on a pillow beside the bed, preferring to snuggle with each other there.
They adjusted to the routine at their foster home quickly. They know their names, come when called, and LOVE the good food they are getting. He wags the whole time he eats! She is dark grey, he is pale, both with tan markings. His nose is brown, and he has green eyes; she has brown eyes and black nose. They are beautiful dogs and so loving.
They are up to date on vaccines and well housebroken (not one accident in almost a week); get along great with cats and other dogs (including big dogs). They are crate, baby gate, and pet door trained.
