Lovey is 4 years old, 10 lbs. and is currently located in Winter Park. Lovey is a very special girl who needs a very special home! Lovey was a puppy mill breeder dog for 3 1/2 years of her life. She lived in a cage that entire time and was only touched by humans that did bad things to her. When she was rescued by Florida Dachshund Rescue, she was scared to death. She hid under her foster mom's bed for a month and would not come out. She ate and did everything under the bed. Finally after a month, she slowly came out from under the bed, but would not approach any human and would run back under the bed if you tried to touch or pick her up. She got along fine with the other dogs, but did not like humans. Her foster mom was only able to pick her up or touch her if she cornered her. After 7 months, she was transferred to another foster home to get more individualized attention. Since coming to her new foster home, she has made great progress. She hated grass before, but now walks on grass and is doing well with housetraining. She loves to play with squeaky toys, will take a treat from your hand without running away and sleeps in the big bed with foster mom and the other dogs all night long. Lovey has learned to walk on a leash, learned the doggy door by watching the other dogs and comes to sit on the couch by herself. She has only barked 3 times, so she is a very quiet dog. Lovey deserves the perfect new forever home. She does not like men, so she needs a single female owner, who has lots of patience and love to give Lovey. She would do best as the only dog, because she likes quiet and getting all the attention. She does not like children and will hide if they come around, because they are too noisy for her. She has not shown any prey drive, so a cat in the home should be fine. She deserves lots of attention, so a female that is retired or works from home is best for her. She is used to a fenced yard, but she would do fine with several walks a day. Lovey needs to sleep in the big bed with her new female mom. Lovey is healthy, up to date on vaccinations and needs to lose a pound or two to get her healthy waistline back. If you have the perfect home described for Lovey, please fill out an adoption application on our website at: http://fldr.org/adopt/adoption-application/ and contact her foster mom at larkart@yahoo.com. Her adoption fee is $250.

*This is a courtesy posting. FLDR bears no responsibility, present or future, in the adoption of Snoopy. Snoopy is 8-9 years old, 15 lbs. He is a vetted dapple Dachshund who lived a tough life previously in a kennel for breeding. His vocal chords have been cut and a majority of his teeth have been removed except for the 4 canines. Otherwise, he is happy and healthy. After a month of TLC, his personality started to shine and it was realized how much he really loved people and other dogs. He has a fascination for squeaky toys and loves to chase the little lizards outside. He has made friends with some of the neighborhood children as long as they come up slowly and get to know him. His favorite person is the teenage boy that lives next door to him. He loves to wake up in the morning with long snout in your hair or behind your neck and give lots of kisses. He has never met a dog he hasn't loved and warms up to people and definitely needs to find his furever home. If you are interested in adopting Snoopy, please fill out an adoption application on our website at: http://fldr.org/adopt/adoption-application/ and contact his foster home at dawncampbell2013@yahoo.com with any questions. The adoption fee is $100.

Buddy is 8 years old, 9 1/2 lbs., currently located in Orlando. I am a very sweet, lovable Doxie. I love to cuddle and and get lots of attention. Foster mom says I am a velcro dog. I am housetrained, up to date on my vaccinations and just lost 16 teeth in a dental. But I can eat just fine. I have a low grade heart murmur that is not causing me any issues. I need a fenced in yard because I love to run freely around the yard and roll on my back. I get along well with other dogs and would like at least one other small dog to play with. If you think I am the right dog for you, please fill out an adoption application on the website at http://fldr.org/adopt/adoption-application/. My adoption fee is $175.

Abbie is 1 1/2 years old, 9 lbs. and currently located in Lakeland, FL. In November of 2015 FLDR got the emergency call about a little 7-8 month old Dachshund mix in serious condition having been hit by a car. She was immediately taken to our guardian angels at Veterinary Surgical Specialist in Tampa, FL, where of course they fell in love with her. The diagnosis was a severely fractured pelvis and femur of the left leg. They had to wait 3 days in order for her to stabilize before they could do the first of three surgeries. Abbie’s first surgery was to put 2 plates in her pelvis for stabilization so she would have the use of at least one of her back legs while recuperating. The second surgery happened two weeks later to place 2 pins in her leg and then 3-4 weeks of crate rest. She was absolutely the best little girl with lots of kisses and tail wags the entire time. About 4 weeks later she started experiencing discomfort in her back left foot and would chew on it. After many trips to VSS and having to wear an E-collar for 4 months straight, it was decided the injury had been too severe and caused some nerve damage. Back into surgery little Abbie went to remove the leg. Again she was a real trooper through the whole recovery time with tail wags and kisses. So now Abbie is healthy, happy and ready to go to her new forever home. You would think with all the surgeries and recoup time it would have slowed her down. No way Jose! She loves to play with her foster brothers and sisters and often will wear them out. She is faster on three legs than her play buddies who have four. Her 2 favorite games are chase and tug of war with the toys. Abbie loves playing and hunting in the yard. She is a very busy girl. Abbie is very loving and enjoys being with people. She is a very happy little girl with lots of tail wags and kisses. Because of past experiences in her life she may be a little slow to warm up at first meetings. But watch out. She will become your best friend and a Velcro dog in no time. She will need a home with lots of love, patience and understanding since she is still a playful energetic puppy. She is housetrained and very obedient. Abigail’s requirements are: a fenced in yard, a young furry friend with which to play and a home with NO CHILDREN due to her previous injuries. Her adoption fee is $225. If you think I am the right dog for you, please fill out an application with my name on it at fldr.org/adopt/adoption-application/. If you have any questions or concerns you may email my foster family at quita863@earthlink.net.

Maggie Mae is 3 years old, 15 lbs. and currently located in Riverview, FL. I'm Maggie Mae. My foster dad just calls me Maggie. I am a Doxie-Jack Russel Terrier. I have had all my shots and I'm also heart worm free. I am very nervous when you first meet me. It takes me about 1 or 2 days to warm up to someone I don't know. But after I get to know that I won't be harmed and learn to trust you, I am the most loving and playful girl you have ever seen. I need to be adopted in a home that has only 1 or 2 people and a fenced in yard that I can run in. I love it outdoors. Foster dad thinks that I am anxious because I was previously abused. Probably yelled at a lot or maybe even hit and that's why it takes me a while to warm up to someone I don't know. I love to play with my toys and stay beside you on the couch as long as you want. All I need is a lot of love and attention and I will your best friend. If you need any more information and you can reach foster dad at 813-672-6301. Her adoption fee is $200. If you are interested in adopting Maggie, please fill out an adoption application on the website at fldr.org/adopt/adoption-application/ and contact my foster pop at stbeachrr@yahoo.com with questions.

Bobo is 8 years old, 16 lbs. and currently located in Lakeland, FL. If ever there was a perfect dog his name is Bobo. He’s a very calm and loving boy who enjoys being in the company of people. He is very friendly and loves greeting guests as they come to the door. He spends a lot of time in the yard exploring and sunning on the patio. He has learned to play with the other small pups and really enjoys being with them. He’s obedient and housetrained. Did I say perfect? If not, I will say it again PERFECT. He brings great joy to your heart. This little boy has a sad story to tell. He came into FLDR with an injured neck and was thought to need surgery. However, after further examination by our guardian angels at Veterinary Surgical Specialists of Tampa, FL, it was decided that all he needed was some medication and crate rest. Sadly, his family had given him up because they could not handle the cost or care of his medical treatment. When FLDR told them the good news about his treatment and offered to return Bobo to them, they decided they couldn’t handle the emotional stress. More sad news, this was the second home for this precious and loving boy. He deserves better than a life like this. Now the good news. Bobo has finished his rehab in record time and is now ready for his new forever home. He’s doing great and shouldn’t need further medical attention with proper care. For his future he will need to use a harness for walking, which should be used on dachshunds anyway, and no rough playing with humans. Although playing a gentle tug of war with his new brothers or sisters is okay. He will need a home with NO SMALL CHILDREN living in the house. He will also require lots of love and happiness in his new furever home. If you are interested in adopting Bobo, please fill out an adoption application on the website at fldr.org/adopt/adoption-application/ and contact my foster mom at quita863@earthlink.net with questions.. Robbie is 4 years old, weighs 10 lbs. and is currently in Lakeland, FL. This poor little boy came to FLDR as a confiscation from a cruelty case. He was down in the back, underweight, hair missing on his back and legs and his tail was cut off. After getting the call we immediately picked him up and sent him to our angels at Veterinary Surgical Specialists. His surgery took longer than usual because his spinal disc was severely damaged and they were able to save his life. He has been in rehab for about 4 months but still walks with a bit of a wobble. The hope is he will continue to improve as has been shown in our past experiences with similar cases. He is an inspiration to us all for never having complained or given up with all he’s been through. How sad for such a wonderful little boy who is so full of love and life to have been treated so horribly. Robbie is now ready for his furever home. He’s loving, playful and very handsome. He loves playing with soft squeaky toys and often looks like E.T. when he piles them all in his bed and crawls underneath with just his head sticking out. He’s so cute! He loves being with humans and keeping them company. He loves to cuddle and get nose kisses. Although he still gets a little nervous at being picked up and will grab onto your arm for security. I believe he’s been dropped or thrown to the ground at some point in his life. He enjoys being outside exploring the yard or just sitting in the sun. He’s very obedient, is smart and learns quickly. Please give Robbie consideration for adoption. His issues are not his fault. He was very cruelly abused and lives everyday with the lasting effects. He has a very big heart with lots of love to give. He would make a wonderful companion and friend. All he wants is to be cared for and loved by someone special who can open their heart and give him a chance at the life he should have had. Unfortunately because of his mistreatment he has suffered some damage to his bladder and only has partial control of his urine because he can only hold it about 1 ½ hrs. God love him, he tries with all he has to make it outside. He is however used to wearing belly bands in case of accidents. His adoption fee is $200. If you are interested in adopting Robbie, please fill out an adoption application on the website at http://fldr.org/adopt/adoption-application/ and contact my foster mom at quita863@earthlink.net with questions.

Mogli is 6-7 years old, weighs 22 lbs. and currently in Myakka City, FL. He is smart as a whip! He likes other dogs, people…just about everyone! He would be a great farm dog. He loves to ride on the mower with foster mom. He won’t run off & comes when you call him. Mogli has chronic dry eye & has to have his eye medications put in every few hours. So he needs someone who is home of the time and will be devoted to caring for him. This is a lifetime condition that cannot be cured, just managed. He doesn’t mind getting his eye medications & will jump up on a low table for foster mom to put the drops in. Mogli is up to date on his vaccinations, heartworm negative & ready to find a new forever home. His adoption fee is $200.
