My name is Sidney!  I’m a purebred, long hair red dachshund and I’m 7 years old and weigh 12 pounds. I have black-tipped, long beautiful ears. My parents gave me over to FLDR because they were moving somewhere that does not allow dogs.  I am a very sweet, docile and affectionate girl that just loves to snuggle and curl up to sleep next to you on the couch.  I love to give soft kisses and will follow you all over the house to get as much attention as possible!

I am spayed and am up-to-date on all of my shots.  I am taking a monthly heartworm pill and receive flea/tick medication.  My foster parents are not aware of any prior history of diseases, surgeries, injuries  or medical conditions, other than an allergic reaction to wolf spider bites, and Benedryl is recommended.

I have been eating two small meals per day at my foster mom’s house, once in the morning and once in the evening. I currently eat a dry, natural dog food.  When offered a different kind of food I had no problem with that.  I am house-trained and sleep on my blankets or bed during the day.  I don’t jump up on the couch but love to be carried up to sit next to you!  I will jump down if I get really excited or someone is at the door.  When I was placed in the gated area for the night with my foster mom’s other dogs, I cried for a few minutes and then slept right through the night.

Every once in a while I may have an accident on the floor if I’m really excited or nervous but I use the bathroom outside with the other dogs without a problem.  I am not a fan of wet grass.  I am not scared of baths.  I don’t chew on furniture or shoes and have never had an accident on furniture or the bed.  I love my foster mom’s 7 month old baby and show no signs of aggression toward other dogs or people.  I’m truly a sweetie!

I don’t have a tendency to run away and walk on a leash very well.  My foster parents take me on a walk almost every night and I get very excited.  I like playing toys but since I’ve only been at my foster parents’ house for a week, I’m still getting comfortable with my surroundings.  I love having my hair brushed and sitting at your feet so I’m close to you.  I’m looking for my forever home.
